M.Sc. Agriculture is a two years postgraduate degree program. This is an applied program which aims at providing in depth theoretical knowledge alongwith hands on experience of advanced practices of agriculture. As the agriculture sector has immense potential for growth, a major thrust area in this field is research and development. Program Overview

Agriculture is the most important sector of the Indian economy. Hence this postgraduate degree program in Agriculture Science has a special significance as it aims at imparting updated knowledge of agriculture farming techniques and skills to the students. The program encourages students to bring innovative practices to agriculture and allied fields which may provide new career options to the youth. Agriculture being a vast field, the M.Sc. Agriculture program offers various specializations out of which a student may take one of his/her choice.

  • Sc. Agriculture programs intends to acquaint the students with major aspects of the trade like plant Biology & Pathology, Plantation Management, Agricultural Machinery, Biochemistry, Livestock Management, Agri-Business & Marketing etc.

Agriculture Departments of the State Govt. and banks recruit Agriculture Science graduates as Agriculture officers. In the private sector, these students are recruited by plantation firms, fertilizer manufacturing units, agriculture machinery industry, agricultural products marketing firms, food processing industry etc. Apart from these, one may also start own venture or take up research work in research institutions like ICAR, ICRI, etc. or take up teaching in private or government institutions. The candidate seeking admission to this program should have a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry or any allied/ relevant field from a recognized University/ Institution with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade. (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates)

Duration of this program is two years. The program is divided into four semesters of 6 months each.
